United Way of Hudson County directly operates the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Housing First/Collaborative Solutions Program—the first of its kind awarded in Hudson County. Since 2006, the program has provided permanent, affordable, and supportive scattered-site housing for homeless households, helping participants obtain and maintain stable housing, increase skills and income, and achieve greater self-determination. UWHC identifies suitable apartments throughout the community and delivers rental subsidies, case management, and supportive services, with expanded SHP grants further increasing placements for individuals and families into permanent housing.
